about

A really inspired, late night wind blew me around for a week or so as I unearthed these recordings from 2014-2015 that needed much production work. Just coming out of a multi-year deep dive into audio engineering, this project allowed me to connect full circle to the songwriter in me that hasn't been seeing much...daylight...in lieu of the past few years of stream of consciousness improvisations. Hopefully, this is indeed Episode 1 of merging the two previously divergent threads of my head: songwriting and audio engineering.

Breeze features the lovely Ahsamon on vocals and hopefully helps with the fever ;)

12 Year Old Kids sounds a bit "read off a script" to me, but I didn't want to redo the vocals. I treated this project like some kid (me from 5 years ago) sent me this and I had to make do.

Dog And A Treat: I remember writing this one in bed and the lyrics kept coming so fast I had to have Ahsamon get a pen and write them down. Production wise, it came out pretty tasty with some sci-fi vocal action and some cut and time-strectched lead guitar.

Speaking of guitar, My Father is one of the most thorough guitar parts I've ever written and the performances came out great! The drums are stacked drummer tracks and loops in Logic. Also, really like the lyrics on this one. It reminds me that the people around me help me to be the best version of myself that I can be, but in different ways.

Daylight was originally about 1.5 minutes long and was in no way an extended ElectroJam. However, instead of simply mixing it and closing out the project, I said, "What else is here?" and started doing little moves until an electro beat was found and the project went in a whole different direction that sounds awesome. The virtue of not shortcutting and listening to your muses.

Anyways, thanks for listening. 2014 songwriting meets 2020 production. Pretty cool!
